ASEAN-EU science conference held in Thailand

PATHUM THANI, THAILAND, January 21 (TNA) - Thailand hosts the ASEAN-EU Science, Technology and Innovation Days 2014 (STI Days) Conference and Exhibition at the Thai Science Park on the outskirts of Bangkok from January 21-23, 2014, aimed to build up a collaborative research network between the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the 27-member European Union (EU). The three-day STI Days Conference and Exhibition, organized by the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), under the Thai Ministry of Science and Technology, is also aimed to double bilateral ties and cooperation between ASEAN, in which Thailand is a member country, and the EU, focused on agricultural and health sectors, especially Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID). Besides, the “Horizon 2020” Programme was officially launched as part of the STI Days Conference and Exhibition, aimed to be a financial support framework for scientific and technological research and innovative business projects at up to 80 billion Euros for the period of 2014-2020. Several workshops on global social challenges, namely food security, water management, as well as exhibitions of EU research sponsors, research projects and innovative business firms are also held as part of the STI Days Conference and Exhibition.(TNA)
