ASEAN Youth Exchange Programme

BANGKOK, January 11 (TNA) - One of Thailand’s top five universities, Chulalongkorn University, is organizing a short term ASEAN youth exchange programme, scheduled for January 10-20, 2013, during which students of Thai and other ASEAN member countries' universities participate, aimed to create a coordination network on academic exchanges among the regional youths. Thai Vice Minister for Education Suwat Tanpipat on Friday morning presided over the opening ceremony of the exchange programme, entitled, “ASEAN Youth & the Evolving Regional Architecture”, aimed to also prepare the regional youths for the establishment of the ASEAN Community (AC) by 2015. The 10-day programme, hosted by the ASEAN Study Centre of Chulalongkorn University, serves, as well, as a platform for youths of member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to learn more about each other’s society, cultures and politics in order that they become true ASEAN citizens. The ASEAN youth exchange programme, funded by the innovation of academic coordination project between Thailand and ASEAN, is participated by over 110 students from universities across the 10-member ASEAN bloc, including those in Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei, Lao PDR, Cambodia and Thailand.(TNA)
