Ashghal Celebrates National Day

Doha, December 17 (QNA) - The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) concluded today its celebrations for Qatars National day which lasted for the past week. The main celebration was held today 17th December in Ashghals Heritage Village, with the participation of HE Eng. Nasser bin Ali Al Mawlawi, President of the Public Works Authority, and departments and affairs managers in Ashghal, as well as all of the authoritys staff from citizens and residents. The celebration included the activities of the "National Folklore" such as "Al Muradah" show and "Al Arda Al Qatariyya" show. Ashghal's National Day celebration this year, aimed to demonstrate the significance of loyalty to our beloved country, and to reflect Ashghals beliefs in the importance of taking care of Qatar's heritage treasures, upholding the inherited customs, and transmitting them to future generations. Ashghals Heritage Village represented the real old Qatari village with its diverse cultural elements and popular legacies such as Qatari customs, traditions, crafts, and businesses, among others that were handed down to us by our parents and grandparents. The village welcomed visitors including employees, consultants, customers, students and the general public for the last four days in its headquarters at the West Bay. Ashghals Heritage Village also included a number of other activities including the "Classical Cars Roadshow", where employees and consultants participated showcasing their cars, as well as a photography contest dedicated to Ashghals National Day activities. The authority organized this year many new initiatives and activities inspired by the Qatari heritage and culture. The authority launched a new initiative under the slogan "Qatarna, Our Past and Present" which aims at creating the largest album showcasing images of Qatar's past and present. The authority also organized school visits to Ashghals headquarters, under "Ashghal in the eyes of our children" initiative, which hosted a group of students from primary, secondary, and high schools. The visit comprised briefing students about the Public Works Authority, using presentations and videos that provided a detailed explanation on the authority's departments, specializations, and core projects, as well as explaining the different stages that a project goes through from its inception to its implementation. Students also viewed small models of Ashghals projects, as well as the authority's mobile labs. (QNA)
