Ashura-themed works to go on display at Tehran museum

TEHRAN,Dec.2(MNA) -- An exhibition of artworks with the theme of the Ashura uprising, during which Imam Hussein and his companions were martyred, opens this afternoon at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art (TMCA). Paintings, calligraphy works, and graphic designs by a vast array of outstanding Iranian artists will be showcased at the exhibit entitled “The Account of Grief”. Among the artists whose works have been selected for the show are Mahmud Javadipur, Karamali Shirazi, Ahmad Vakili, Reza Mafi, Jalil Rasuli, Kazem Chalipa, Behnam Kamrani, Mohammad Tajvidi, and Morteza Momayyez. Teahouse paintings by Hassan Esmaeilzadeh, Abbas Bolukifar, and Mohammad Modabber are also among the works. The exhibition, which has been organized with the help of the Imam Ali (AS) Religious Arts Museum, will run until December 10.
