ASIA-PACIFIC REGIONAL SEMINAR ON DISASTER RISK HELD

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Within the 10th anniversary of foundation of the emergency service, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) ran the Asia-Pacific regional seminar themed “Introducing space technology and geological information system for reducing disaster risk actions” June 3-4 at its headquarters. Co-organized by the NEMA and the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), the seminar was attended by delegates from the UNESCAP member states; officials of the United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER), the Asian Disaster Reduction Center (Sentinel Asia), the UNDP, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the RIMES. The participants exchanged their experiences in minimizing disasters' risks in Asia-Pacific.
