ASIAN FORUM ON CHILDREN’S RIGHTS

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The 3rd Asian Forum on the children’s rights will take place on August 23-24 in Ulaanbaatar. It will be co-organized by the National Department for Children, the National Commission for Human Rights, the Permanent Representative Office of the UNICEF and Japan’s Institute for Convention on the Rights of the Child. The agenda will include such matters as abolishing of the worst forms of the child labour, roles of state bodies and NGOs in monitoring the implementation of children’s rights, the media security for children, education programmes and support and aid for children in emergency cases. It is expected that the forum will gather some 50 delegates from Asian countries. On examples of Japan, S.Korea, India, Cambodia, Indonesia and Mongolia they will deliver reports on the children’s rights. The forum will result in issuing a declaration of the Asian Forum on the children’s rights and in determining a venue for the next forum.
