Asian Paragames Proves Indonesia Disability Friendly

MEDAN, N Sumatra, Dec 18 (Antara) - Indonesia which was appointed as the host of Asian Para Games 2018 scheduled to be held from October 6 to 13, proves that it as one of the disability friendly countries in Asia, an official said. The media affairs director of the Indonesia Asian Para Games Organizing Committee (INAPGOC) 2018, Ashagindo Fahreza Nasution said that Indonesia is the first country in Southeast Asia to be elected to host the Asian Para Games, and that opportunity constitutes the implementation of Law No. 8 of 2016 regarding persons with disabilities. Nasution said through that moment, Indonesia has the opportunity to prove itself to achieve equal rights and opportunities for persons with disabilities towards a prosperous life, self-contained, and without discrimination to reach the developed and developing life in a fair and dignified. With the slogan "The Inspiring Spirit and Energy of Asia", APG (Asian Para Games) 2018 comes with four missions namely determination, courage, equality and inspiration. The four missions are expected to introduce strong determination and self-confidence of the athletes to face all challenges both physically and mentally. Apart from that, the quadrennial event is also trying to promote equality in the society and make the actions of the athletes with disabilities as a source of inspiration and motivation, Nasution added. Prior to the Asian Para Games, Indonesia will carry out the 18th Asian Games, which will be co-hosted by Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatra Province, from Aug 18 to Sept 2, 2018.
