Assets of Thai NLA members disclosed

BANGKOK, October 3 (TNA) - The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has publicly reported assets and liabilities of all members of Thailand's National Legislative Assembly (NLA). According to the NACC report, released on Friday, Isara Vongkusolkit, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, is the richest NLA member, possessing a net asset of more than 5.2 billion baht over liabilities, followed by Pilaiwan Sombatsiri, Chairwoman of the Park Nai Lert Hotel in central Bangkok, possessing a net asset of more than 1.3 billion baht over liabilities. Among those richest police and military officers who are NLA members include Assistant National Police Chief Police Lieutenant General Chaktip Chaichinda, who possesses a net asset of more than 960 million baht over liabilities, former navy chief Admiral Kamthorn Phumpiran with his net asset of over 800 million baht and Assistant Army Chief Lieutenant General Preecha Chan-ocha, a younger brother of Prime Minister General Prayuth, with his net asset of more than 79 million baht. NLA President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai has a net asset of more than 48 million baht, while NLA First Vice President Surachai Liengboonlertchai has a net asset of 170 million baht and NLA Second Vice President Peerasak Porjit has a net asset of slightly more than 36 million baht. The NACC report showed Somporn Thepsitha, the most senior NLA member, has the least net asset of only 160,735.46 baht. NACC said 26 Cabinet members have, meanwhile, submitted their assets and liabilities accounts to the anti-graft agency and it is expected that assets and liabilities of all Cabinet members should be publicly reported by the end of this month. Thailand's NLA and Cabinet members are all required to report their assets and liabilities to NACC while holding their posts. (TNA)
