Assets of Thailand's NLA members disclosed

BANGKOK, November 28 (TNA) - The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has disclosed assets and liabilities of 28 more members of Thailand's National Legislative Assembly (NLA) who have taken their posts since early October 2014. According to the NACC's latest announcement on Friday, Chatchai Piyasombutkul, an NLA member who is a businessman and a major supporter of the Democrat Party, and his spouse is the richest among the 28 NLA members with their total net asset of about 1.5 billion baht. Another NLA member, Anumad Ahmad, who is an energy businessman and a former adviser to former ASEAN secretary-general and former Thai Democrat foreign minister Dr. Surin Pitsuwan and his spouse is the second richest with their total net asset of more than 337 million baht. Other senior NLA members, including former assistant army chief General Podok Bunnag and his spouse and incumbent Deputy Commanding General of the 1st Army Area Command Major General Apirat Kongsompong and his spouse have their total net assets of over 156 million baht and over 121 million baht respectively. Kosol Petsuwan, Rector of Bangkok-based King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology LadKrabang and his spouse have the least net asset of just over 2.34 million baht. Like earlier batches of NLA members whose assets were disclosed, the NACC will display assets and liabilities of the new group of the 28 NLA members at its headquarters in Bangkok’s neighbouring Nonthaburi Province, during office hours, from November 28-December 12, 2014.
