Assistance keeps flowing from Thailand to Nepal

BANGKOK, May 5 (TNA) - Thailand is delivering necessities to help earthquake victims in Nepal and the Thai Public Health Ministry will send the second team of its doctors there on May 7. The second team of doctors from Mahidol, Chiang Mai and Chulalongkorn universities would replace the first team in Sipaghat sub-district, east of Kathmandu. Meanwhile, Three Thai people returned from Nepal on a C-130 airplane and arrived in Thailand at about 6pm on Monday. On rescue work, Thailand was expected send more medical supplies, including liquid medicines for children, oximeters, saline solution dispensers and generators to Nepal. So far, the Thai government had raised donations worth 116,069,186.82 baht for the cause. Sek Wannamethee, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the World Health Organization had praised the Thai government and rescue teams for their full-scaled and unrelenting assistance. Separately, Deputy government spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnerd said Thailand still had more relief supplies for Nepal and the navy was also planning the optional delivery plans by sea in case of air traffic congestion in the Himalayan nation.
