Assistant Foreign Minister delivers lecture on Bahrain’s human rights achievements

Manama, Feb. 25 (BNA): Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabr Al-Dossari, has affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, in line with its identity and deep-rooted national heritage, has adopted the values of justice, equality, coexistence, democracy and human rights as fundamentals in its national and international policies, reflected in its adherence to the principles of the United Nations Charter and the Universal Declaration on Rights Human rights. Its policies, he said, are also based on other charters and international treaties aimed at protecting and promoting human rights, and in conformity with the comprehensive reform approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa who established these principles in the National Action Charter. He was speaking during a virtual lecture on "The Kingdom of Bahrain's Achievements in Human Rights", held marking the launch of the "Leadership Course for Diplomats", organised by the Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Academy Khalifa for Diplomatic Studies. The Assistant Minister outlined the concept of human rights, its importance and its national, regional and international dimensions and characteristics, such as comprehensiveness, complementarity and universality, its civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights and solidarity, highlighting, in this regard, the achievements of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the human rights field. Among them are the Government Action Plan 2019-2022, the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, the Kingdom of Bahrain's submission of its national reports, its membership in the Human Rights Council 2019-2021, the Isa Award for Service to Humanity. The Assistant Minister also mentioned the UNESCO King Hamad Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technology in the Field of Education, the World Day of Conscience, in addition to the King Hamad Award for Youth Empowerment to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals and the King Hamad Award for Agricultural Development. He also cited Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa’s Global Award for Women Empowerment, Nasser Bin Hamad International Award for Youth Creativity, Nasser Bin Hamad Creativity Award for the Disabled and the issuance of many laws and creation of many national mechanisms that protect human rights and reinforce sustainable development. In conclusion, Al Dossari highlighted many of the achievements of the Kingdom of Bahrain at all levels, reviewing the efforts of the National Taskforce for combating the coronavirus led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the proactive measures taken by the Kingdom on all sides to combat the pandemic. He said that such tremendous efforts earned the Kingdom national and international acclaim and proved Bahrain’s pioneering position and ability to face disasters and crises, based on its full belief in the importance of fulfilling its obligations and maintaining the safety and health of the citizens and residents alike.
