Manama, Aug. 9 (BNA): Assistant Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabur Al-Doseri received United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator/ (UNDP) Resident Representative to Bahrain, Amin Al-Sharkawi. Al-Doseri praised UNDP efforts and initiatives in all areas of technical and advisory support for the implementation of several programmes in Bahrain in terms of capacity-building, exchange of expertise and achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs2030). The assistant minister lauded UNDP support to the Kingdom to help implement economic diversity and environmental projects in addition to spreading awareness on human rights. He noted Bahrain’s successful presentation of its first voluntary report on the achieved SDGs to the UN in New York last month realising 67% of these goals in an advanced initiative. The implementation of sustainable development goals was linked to the Kingdom’s achievement of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) recommendations relating to its third national periodic review (NPR) on Human Rights presented to the Human Rights Council last May, he added. El-Sharkawi praised Bahrain's continuous support to the UNDP, commending Bahrain’s great efforts in attaining the SDGs and wishing it further progress and development.
