Australia's Deputy High Commissioner To M'sia Impressed With Security Management In ESSZone

LAHAD DATU (Sabah), March 27 (Bernama) -- Australia's Deputy High Commissioner to Malaysia, Dr Angela Macdonald praised the efforts of the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) to manage the maritime security by enforcing curfew. Macdonald said the enforcement of 'curfew' was not only an effective way to curb transboundary crime, especially in the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (ESSzone), the move was also able to restore the confidence of tourists to the region. "We wish to thank ESSCom for briefing us about the concept, standard operating procedure and implementation of the curfew in four districts of Sabah," said Macdonald who headed a four-member delegation from the Australian High Commission to the ESSCom headquarters, here Thursday. The delegation was received by ESSCom's Marine Component chief Maritime First Admiral M. Karunanithi, ESSCom's Investigation Department director Md. Rahim Mohammad, senior ESSCom officers and Sabah Tourism Board general manager Irene Benggon Charuruks. The ESSZom encompasses 10 districts in Sabah, namely Kudat, Kota Marudu, Pitas, Beluran, Kinabatangan, Sandakan, Lahad Datu, Kunak and Tawau. -- BERNAMA
