It advises Chinese consumers how to differentiate the authentic Thai Hom Mali Rice from other kinds of fragrant rice. Kamthonpon Buaphetch, trade officer of the DFT said that the authentic Thai Hom Mali Rice has the specially-designed logo of yellow rice stalks with its name "Thai Hom Mali Rice" in Chinese on the packages as well as the barcode, beginning with the number 885. He said although, China can grow rice, some Chinese consumers like Thai Hom Mali rice and the instruction can help them select the real Thai Hom Mali rice to meet their need. Besides the DFT booth to promote Thai rice, several Thai products such as food, herbal and spa products and handicrafts are on display at the Thai pavilion in the 10th China ASEAN Expo at the Nanning International Exhibition and Convention Center. This year, Thailand's eastern province of Trat was selected to represent Thailand at the City of Charm exhibition zone. The coastal province has exhibited Thai fruit grown in the province such as Durian, one of Chinese's favorite tropical fruit and demonstrated unique spa treatment. The province promotes its islands as tourist destinations at the event through a traditional dance in the posture signifying the sea at different time. Trat, located on the mainland in the gulf of Thailand, also presents itself as a gateway, connecting Thailand to ASEAN countries via air, land and marine transportation. (TNA)
