Authorities to consider BRN demands

BANGKOK, August 21 (TNA) - Regarding a meeting called by Deputy Prime Minister Police General Pracha Promnok in Bangkok on August 22 to discuss demands of the Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) insurgency movement, Thai Army Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha suggested on Wednesday that the consideration is to be careful and is to adhere to laws. As the main objective of the discussion is to stop violence in the Thai Far South, General Prayuth insisted that solutions to all problems require patience and the government needs to adhere to laws and peaceful means so that it can be answerable to the international community. The army chief also encouraged everyone to help solve problems because, he acknowledged, security is a key pole of the ASEAN Community (AC), in which Thailand is a part. The army chief, however, declined to give any comment whether the Royal Thai Army can accept any demand of the BRN. (TNA)
