Authorities create awareness on importance of science among Thai youths

PATHUM THANI, THAILAND, April 9 (TNA) - Authorities concerned have organised activities to help create awareness on the importance of science toward national development among Thai youths. Thailand's Caretaker Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra stressed the importance of science on Wednesday, when she visited the National Science Museum (NSM) in Klong Luang District of Bangkok's adjacent Pathum Thani Province. Yingluck also called a meeting of the authorities concerned to follow up progress of integrated strategic cooperation mechanisms among seven research agencies, during which she acknowledged that Thailand has a number of smart researchers and scientists, but the country is still facing the problem of continual development and implementation of research projects for practical use beneficial to the nation. The caretaker prime minister, thus, assigned the Office of National Economic and Social Development Board (ONESDB) to accelerate solving the problem to enhance the national development capacity. The caretaker prime minister then looked on activities and events in the compound of the museum, now a major learning source of national science development, aimed to encourage and promote people in the Thai society to be interested in and to pay attention to science for further national development. Besides, exhibitions and shows at the NSM are aimed to help create good attitude towards science among the Thai youths. (TNA)
