Authority:People can eat seafood on Samet Island

BANGKOK, August 7 (TNA) - Public Health Minister Dr. Pradit Sintawanarong says that people can eat seafood as usual, insisting that recent oil spills off Rayong province in the Thai East have had no impact on sea animals. Dr. Pradit, however, suggested that consumers clean and cook seafood and refrain from eating animals dying in the oil-spilled zone as a precaution. Besides, Rayong's health officials are sending samples of seafood to the Department of Medical Sciences, under the Ministry of Public Health, for tests for a period of one year. According to the minister, people can inquire about seafood from his ministry's hotline, 1422, or Tel 02-5903333. (TNA)
