Authority:Thais to benefit from Myanmar e-visa services

BANGKOK, August 29 (TNA) - Thailand will benefit from e-visa services to be launched by neighbouring Myanmar on September 1, 2014. Somchai Hatayatanti, Governor of Thailand's northwestern Tak Province, told journalists of the positive prospect on Friday. Somchai pointed out that Myanmar's e-visa services will more facilitate Thai nationals, both tourists and business operators, who want to travel to the neighbouring country. According to the governor, Myanmar's e-visa system will also benefit the setting up of the planned Mae Sot Special Economic Zone in Tak in the near future, prior to the formation of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) by 2015. Myanmar's Ministry of Immigration and Population has announced on its website that the neighbouring country's e-visa system will be launched as of 6am next Monday, under which visa applications will be accepted online and proceeded within five days each. Those who are approved tourist visa can stay in Myanmar up to 28 days each time. (TNA)
