Azerbaijan and UN Alliance of Civilizations announced a joint competition - "Living together in a diverse world"

Baku, April 15 (AzerTAc). The Republic of Azerbaijan and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations announced a competition of projects in the frame of the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, which will be held in Baku from May 29 to June 1 this year, supporting cultural diversity and living together in society. To participate in the competition are invited various non-governmental organizations that can assist in the sharing of peaceful coexistence in a diverse world - members of the League of Arab States and the countries of Central Asia, charitable organizations, research institutes and universities, religious organizations, trade unions, industry associations, foundations and local communities, the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan said. The announcement of the contest is posted on the UN Alliance of Civilizations - www.unaoc.org. As earlier reported, May 29-June 1 this year in Baku under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, it will be hosted the II World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue. The major partners of the project are UNESCO, the UN Alliance of Civilizations, the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe, ISESCO and the World Tourism Organization of the United Nations. It will discuss issues hindering the normal development of intercultural relations, and the debate will be organized to address threats, as well as conceptual, practical and political aspects, the impact of socio-cultural, religious and economic spheres. The forum is planned for the first time in the world to hold a meeting of the Ministers of Culture of the East and West. The forum will be attended by heads of international organizations, more than 100 ministers, experts, heads of think tanks, academicians and representatives of the centers involved in intercultural dialogue. In accordance with the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on 27 May 2011, the Forum is held every two years.
