Azerbaijani Diaspora in Latvia protests against French Parliament`s bill

Baku, December 29 (AzerTAc). A center of Azerbaijani culture “Ojag” held a roundtable meeting regarding the bill of the Lower Chamber of the French parliament on criminalizing denial of the so-called “Armenian genocide”. Chief of the International Institute of Near East, Central Asia and political studies Aydin Asgerov said this decision contradicts international law. Chairman of the scientific-expert council of the Institute Victor Kolchak said the solution of the international conflicts must be aimed not at the destruction but strengthening of the relations. The history must be studied by professional historians. A member of the Institute on Kazakhstan Yury Moisenko said this decision is a good hype for President Sarkozy to gather a point in the upcoming Presidential elections. Head of the center of Azerbaijani culture “Ojag” Roman Aliyev said this bill is a result of activity of Armenian lobby in France, whose voices are very important for Sarkozy. He said this decision is destructive, generates tension, impedes boosting cooperation and resolution of the “frozen” conflicts.
