Baby-friendly hospitals initiative launched

Manama, Aug. 12 (BNA): The Ministry of Health (MoH) held a workshop pertaining to the ministerial decision issued to regulate the use, marketing and promotion of substitutes to breastfeeding. The ministry launched the 'Baby-friendly Hospitals Initiative', that coincides with the World Breastfeeding Week, in the presence of ministry officials and nursing staffs. Health Minister Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh delivered a speech in which she said that reliant upon the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), UINCEF and Global Health Society, the Kingdom of Bahrain adopted the global strategy of breastfeeding and the relevant law issued since 1995 compatible with the international code to regulate the marketing of substitutes to breastfeeding on mom's milk. It is worth mentioning that, the minister recently issued a decision to regulate the use, marketing and promotion of substitutes of breastfeeding.
