Badung District To Become Bureaucratic Reform Pilot Project

Denpasar, Bali, May 29 (Antara) - Badung district in Bali province will become the pilot project for regional bureaucratic reform which was established by the Ministry for Administrative Reform. "Bureaucratic reform is not a program but as a movement in response to public demand for the realization of professional services; and the challenge of bureaucratic reform is a commitment to make the difference toward a better direction," State Administrative Reform Minister Azwar Abubakar said in a press release to Antara here on Wednesday. Azwar said the realization of good bureaucratic order should be supported by all civil servants in Indonesia to make a better change. "The implementation of bureaucratic reform is a hard work to improve the performance of bureaucrats through a better service quality, reflectivity, and efficiency in the use of budget," he said. According to him, 98 regional governments in 2013 will be designated as pilot projects to speed up bureaucratic reform in accordance with State Administrative Refom Minister`s Regulation No.96/2013. "The designation of the regional governments as pilot projects is not all of a sudden but through a series of process that has been made before," he said. Azwar added that after being designated as the pilot projects, the 98 district governments should follow it up by submitting a proposal document and road map in the form of regional head regulation to the national bureaucratic reform team. "The intended road map must be made in accordance with the regional characteristics and challenges," Azwar said.
