BAE to Participate at INNOCONF 2012

KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 (Bernama)-- Global defence, aerospace and security company BAE Systems will be participating at the 2nd Innovation Conference and Exposition 2012 (INNOCONF 2012). The event, to be held at Politeknik Premier Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah in Shah Alam from July 17 to 18, is part of the company’s long-term strategy to develop partnerships with education stakeholders and transfer technology to Malaysia. The event serves as one of many platforms employed by BAE Systems to engage and interact with government agencies, academia and local businesses via MIGHT METEOR, the advanced manufacturing institute and a subsidiary of the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology. BAE Systems Malaysia vice president Mark Burgess, who will deliver a keynote speech on open innovation, said BAE Systems recognises the value of collaboration across industries and academia in order to remain at the cutting edge of innovation. "We are keen to support the development of innovation, technology, education and skills in Malaysia and contribute to Malaysia's Economic Transformation Programme. "From an academic standpoint, we can help institutions of higher learning set high standards in research and development and bridge the gap between students and industry," Burgess said. -- BERNAMA
