Baggage catches fire during check-in at Thailand's Suvarnabhumi Airport

SAMUT PRAKAN, THAILAND, January 28 (TNA) - Concerned authorities are investigating into a case in which a passenger's baggage caught fire during check-in at Thailand's main Suvarnabhumi International Airport on Tuesday morning. The incident happened at 6:20am (Thailand's time) while the passenger was loading the baggage on the PG931 Flight of Bangkok Airways destined for Phnom Penh, Cambodia's capital. Public relations staffs of the Suvarnabhumi International Airport later reported that the baggage contained a kind of fertilizers which might catch fire. Airport authorities are inquiring Bangkok Airways' staffs about its instructions to passengers on substances prohibited aboard flights. An eyewitness said there was a sort of a soft firecracker sound when the baggage caught fire and gave off smoke. The incident shocked and dispersed travelers and staffs at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport and the fire quickly burnt the baggage. A staff, however, managed to put the blaze out with a fire extinguisher while a security guard took photos as evidence.(TNA)
