Bagis: Initiatives which spoil those responsible for deadlock in Cyprus not pragmatic

ISTANBUL (A.A) - Turkish Minister for European Union (EU) Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said Thursday that he did not consider pragmatic the mentality which on one hand criticized the situation in Cyprus and on the other hand spoiled those responsible for the deadlock in Cyprus. Answering questions during the 68th Meeting of Turkey-EU Joint Parliament Commission in Istanbul, Bagis said that Turkey did not aim to be a role model to any country but was rather a source of inspiration. On Cyprus, Egemen Bagis said that, had the EU countries placed the same pressure that Turkey placed on the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on the Greek Cypriot administration, the Cyprus issue would have been solved after 2004.
