Bahrain’s reform, democratic strides in focus

Paris, Oct.13 (BNA): Bahrain’s reforms and democratic strides were the focus of a media meeting in Paris, France. Bahrain Embassy hosted the event to outline the Kingdom’s latest developments and discuss other key regional issues, including the Iran Nuclear Deal, the Syrian crisis and the success of the allied forces in Yemen. Addressing the meeting, Bahrain’s Ambassador to Paris Dr. Mohammed Abdul Ghaffar highlighted the recent visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa to France last September, during which he held talks with President Francois Hollande on expanding cooperation in the sectors of civil aviation, emergency medicine and urban planning. He underlined the 2011 constitutional amendments which granted the Council of Representatives wider political powers and stressed the importance of disseminating the culture of openness and tolerance, urging tolerance and peaceful co-existence to better combat the scourge of terrorism. He slammed the Iranian-backed terrorist groups, which are seeking to subvert the security and stability of Bahrain and other countries in the region, warning against the danger of politicizing religions, doctrines and sects. Dr. Abdul Ghaffar stressed the dedicated efforts led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa. Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) to empower women and promote their political and social rights.
