Bahrain attends Bandung Conference commemoration

Jakarta, Apr.24 (BNA): Parliament Minister Ghanim bin Fadhl Al-Bouainain attended a ceremony marking the 60th anniversary of the historic 1955 Bandung Conference and the 10th anniversary of the new Asia-Africa Partnership. The minister led Bahrain’s delegation to the Asia-Africa Summit 2015, in Jakarta, Indonesia. The delegations visited the West Javanese capital city of Bandung and walked down the Asia – Africa Highway, to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Asian-African Conference which was held in 1955 and laid the foundations for the Non-aligned Movement. Indonesian President Joko Widod addressed the commemorative ceremony, paying tribute to the founding leaders who laid the foundation stones for the Asia – Africa Cooperation. The heads of the participating delegations signed the Asia – Africa Conference Declaration, which stresses the importance renewing political and economic partnership and supporting the Palestinian cause.
