Bahrain attends international conference

Manama, Dec 1 (BNA): Foreign Ministry's Undersecretary, Chairman of the National Committee for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, Ambassador Abdullah Abdullatif Abdullah, has led Bahrain's delegation to the 20th Session of the Conference of the States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention. The event is being held under the chairmanship of Ambassador Eduardo Ibarrola Nicolinof Mexico in The Hague from 30 Nov-4 Dec 2015. Ambassador Abdullah, in his speech, attached great importance to joining the conventions and treaties related to non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction by all countries and to commit to them. He called for the development of new mechanisms to prevent the acquisition of weapons of mass destruction by terrorist groups and to monitor potential threats to face the world. On the sidelines of the conference, he met with a number of heads of delegations and discussed ways to implement the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, as well as the exchange of expertise.
