Bahrain chairs Arab IT meeting

Rabat, May 30 (BNA): Bahrain chaired the second meeting of the "Arab Union for Arab Societies of IT companies", which was held in the Kingdom of Morocco, and was attended by representatives from Kuwait, Egypt, Lebanon and Morocco. The meeting approved an action plan to work for the incorporation of the most important project of possible projects at the Arab level in the industry and the production of information and communication technology, by enhancing the share of Arab technology companies in the communications and information in the Arab market The board of "Arab Union for Arab Societies of IT companies" also launched an action plan aimed at expanding union membership in order to include all associations, organizations and bodies of information and communication technology in all other Arab countries. The Bahraini side in the meeting Included the head of the "Arab Union for Arab Societies of IT companies" Ubaydli Alobaidly, Vice President of the union Dr. Osama Al Baharna, the Financial Secretary Tariq Fakhro, and the adviser to the Board of Directors Mr. Ahmad Hujairi. "We believe that it is about time that a consolidated organisation addresses the needs of the ICT market. The uniqueness of this initiative is that it doesn’t only address the issue from a social angle. This is taking it from a business angle, ie, we want to make sure that impact of the establishment of the union is felt by the producers and the service providers in the IT market in the Arab world". Ubaydli said. "This will open bigger markets for the Arab IT companies. We will make sure that Arab companies will get the help needed to access their counterparts in Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait etc, and this will create a platform whereby Arab companies will operate and find synergies in order to compete in the international market, This will give Arab companies the opportunity to infiltrate the Middle East market, and this is the real objective behind the formation of this union" He added. A plan to form the Arab Union for Arab Societies of IT companies was announced last year in Bahrain. The initiative is expected to be a major boon for ICT companies in Bahrain. The union will be formed and will help Bahraini ICT companies connect with other ICT companies in the Arab home. As of now, five Arab countries namely Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, and Lebanon are part of the soon to be formed union.
