Bahrain-India Week to boost bilateral relations

Manama, Nov. 5 (BNA): Under the patronage of the Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister, Zayed bin Rashid Al-Zayani, the kingdom will host the Bahrain-India Week at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre is an exhibition centre (BIECC) on December 2-3. The event is organised by the Promotion, Exhibitions, and Conferences sector committee of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), led by BCCI member Ahlam Janahi, in cooperation with BCCI’s Bahrain Asian Traders Committee (BATC), led by Vice-Treasurer and committee head Mohammed Sajid Izharulhaq. BCCI Chairman Khalid Abdulrahman Al-Moayyad, during a press conference held at Beit Al-Tijjar in the presence of the Indian Ambassador to Bahrain, Alok Kumar Sinha, and his accompanying delegation, voiced pride in the kingdom’s hosting of such a key economic event amid the quantum leap made by friendly India in many economic sectors, including information and communication technology, transportation and health services, which, he said, resulted in its economy growing by 7 percent despite the decline in oil prices. BCCI chief welcomed Indian investments in Bahrain, and lauded the long-standing diplomatic and economic relations between Bahrain and India, calling for holding continuous joint economic events to explore more joint investment ventures. Ahlam Janahi underlined the importance of the event, and its prospect in stimulating partnerships between Indian and Bahraini business owners, encouraging trade and investment, and creating job opportunities. The event, reflecting BCCI’s interest in upgrading Bahraini-Indian relations and activating the role of the private sector in the two friendly countries, was announced during a BCCI’s recent visit to India, she said. The ceremony in which the event was announced was held in the presence of the media and top Indian officials including the director of Investment, Technology Promotion & Energy Security Affairs Nagaraj Naidu and the Director of Gulf Division R.V. Prasad of the Ministry of External Affairs. Janahi lauded the support of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, the Economic Development Board (EDB), the Indian Embassy in Bahrain, as well as the relevant parties in India for BCCI’s efforts to hold the event, noting that the outstanding Bahraini-Indian relations have reflected positively on increasing the volume of bilateral trade over the past period. Mohammed Sajid Izharulhaq lauded the fruitful outcomes of the recent visit of the Bahraini business delegation to India, noting that the Bahraini-Indian Week will provide a platform for discussing the best means to boost bilateral economic and investment relations, as well as building future partnerships. He affirmed that Bahrain boasts the best investment requirements in the region, given its status as a gate to GCC markets, advanced infrastructure and business-friendly legislative and legal infrastructure that encourages foreign investments. Indian Ambassador to Bahrain lauded the distinguished Bahraini-Indian relations, hailing the care enjoyed by the Indian expatriate community in Bahrain. He praised the atmosphere of tolerance, coexistence and openness prevailing in Bahrain, which, he said, encourages people to live here. He revealed that the Bahrain-India Week would attract over 100 Indian companies, representing various sectors.
