Bahrain, Indonesia aviation links explored

Manama, July 17 (BNA): Bahrain Airport Company (BAC)’s Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah has met Ambassador of Indonesia to Bahrain, Nur Syahrir Rahardjo. They explored the potential of operating a direct route from Bahrain to the Republic of Indonesia. They also discussed potential channels of cooperation in the aviation sector that would enhance investment, trade, tourism and bilateral relations. In line with ongoing efforts to increase the volume of goods transported through BIA, they also reviewed the potential of developing direct city link air cargo operations. Perishable cargo, particularly tropical fruit and manufactured products, are major exports BAC aims to target. Al Binfalah said: "It was a privilege meeting with the ambassador to explore our mutual vision for a stronger, more prosperous relationship between Bahrain and Indonesia. More than 45,000 passengers travel between our countries annually and this figure is growing steadily. In 2016 alone, we witnessed a 19% increase in the number of passengers, which reflects the huge potential of a direct route. BAC and its partners are working diligently to develop new routes and cargo operations that will serve the needs of businesses and passengers within BIA’s catchment area. In coordination with the ambassador, we invite leading Indonesian carriers wishing to discuss potential collaboration to visit BAC."
