Bahrain NSSA implements training programme

Manama, July 17 (BNA): The National Space Sciences Agency (NSSA) has launched its debut training course in the field of "knowledge transferal" for participants from the relevant governmental departments, in collaboration with a leading global institution in this field. NSSA Chief Executive Mohamed Ibrahim Al Aseeri said the training programme comes within a collection of initiatives adopted by the agency under its current strategic plan for the purpose of national capacity-building mainly regarding the space field and the transferring of knowledge in particular. He added that the agency seeks to achieve optimal utilization of space-related data and photo imaging by inviting representatives of the relevant departments to explore latest technologies and methods of software usage to enable the construction of requisite software algorithms to achieve added value to data proprietorship. Dr. Al Aseeri said the programme contributes in qualification of the participants to provide more ideas that help contribute to development of a bundle of services in their sectors of work, which will have its greater impact in development of numerous governmental services in pace with fast transformations and relevant applications in the field. "In the light of the directives of Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Kamal bin Ahmed Mohamed, the Minister tasked with Control and Supervision over the agency’s work, along with follow-up by its board of directors chaired by Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Al Aamer, the agency continues to implement various initiatives to achieve the objectives behind its establishment," he added. He stressed the important role the agency will contribute in the achievement of comprehensive sustainable development goals of countries, boosting scientific research, innovation and creativity. He cited the robust relations between the agency and the various national higher education institutions, including the University of Bahrain and Bahrain Polytechnic College, in addition to specialized Arabian Gulf and regional research centres as well as international space agencies.
