Bahrain participates in international energy forum in India

New Delhi, Apr. 21 (BNA): Minister of Oil, Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, and the accompanying delegation participated in the 16th International Energy Forum (IEF) Ministerial meeting, held here from April 10 to 12, under the theme "Future of Global Energy Security". Attended by Dharmendra Pradhan, Prime Minister of India and a number of Ministers of Petroleum and Energy, as well as presidents of major international organisations, especially the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the International Energy Agency, the forum aimed to promote joint cooperation in technology and study the long-term policies between producing and consuming countries, and the optimal investment of oil wealth in the world. Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, for their support to the development that took place in the oil and gas sector during HM King Hamad's prosperous era. The minister expressed his pleasure to meet the counterparts responsible for the oil, gas and energy sector in the GCC countries and the member countries of the world, stressing the keenness of the National Oil and Gas Authority ( NOGA ) to participate in the International Energy Forum, which is held every two years alternately between the producer and the other, which contributes to enriching high-level dialogues and discussions with many decision-makers and officials of the oil and gas sector in the oil-producing and consuming countries. It also discussed ways to enhance cooperation, establish joint projects and exchange ideas and experiences in the fields of joint work those would enhancing the oil, gas and energy developments’ programs in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He pointed out that this year's forum represented an opportunity to meet with his counterparts’ ministers and CEO’s of oil companies. The minister held several meetings with the ministers of oil, gas and energy from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt, and many From China, India, USA, France, Kuwait and othersto discuss bilateral partnerships in the oil, gas and energy domain. The event was attended by more than 1300 delegates, more than 50 ministers, 10 presidents of international organizations and more than 50 international, regional and local companies represented by their CEO’s, and about 135 official delegations. It is worth to mention, that the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) is a member of the Executive Board of the Forum, as well as a member of the international support group (ISG). Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) is a member of the Industry Advisory Committee Forum. The first International Energy Forum (IEF) was held in France in 1991 and the 17th International Energy Forum is scheduled to be held in China in 2020. It is also planned that the 18thInternational Energy Forum will be held in Morocco in 2022.
