Bahrain participates in NATO/Istanbul Initiative ministerial meeting

Brussels: April 3 – (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain has participated in the foreign ministers’ meeting held between members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and Istanbul Initiative in NATO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium marking the 10th anniversary of the Istanbul Initiative which was signed in June 2004. The Kingdom of Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Kuwait and the State of Qatar are key members in the Istanbul Initiative which adopts the concept of partnership and mutual interest in establishing special cooperation in fighting terrorism, preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), border security safeguarding, combating contraband smuggling, offering expertise and the relevant assistance to cope with search and rescue in the event of disasters.
