Bahrain participates in UNEVOC Network regional meeting

Berlin, Nov. 25 (BNA): Bahrain took part in the regional meeting of the UNEVOC Network in Arab countries which was hosted by Germany. Technical and Vocational Education Director Dr. Mohammed Abdul Razzaq Al-Siddiqi represented the Education Ministry at the meeting which was held in the UN campus in Bonn, Germany. The UNEVOC International Centre member states were briefed on the medium-term executive strategy of the centre. Representatives of the Arab countries also highlighted the network's activities in their countries and discussed ways of boosting communication between them to maximize benefits. The UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training works on providing various services for the member states to develop their educational and training systems. The centre assists the member states in developing policies and practices concerning education. It was established as a result of a decision taken by the UNESCO General Conference in 1999. In 2000, UNESCO and the government of Germany signed an agreement for the hosting of the International Centre in Bonn, Germany. The inauguration ceremony took place in April 2002.
