Bahrain Polytechnic to get academic accreditation

Manama, Apr. 25 (BNA): In line with its constant efforts to upgrade its educational output and promote its reputation as a prestigious higher education institution (HEI) in the region, the Bahrain Polytechnic took the first step to get institutional accreditation, in cooperation and coordination with the Secretariat -General of the Higher Education Council (HEC). A number of experts at the Secretariat-General conducted a workshop on "Implementing academic accreditation" for specialists in the Bahrain Polytechnic. Director of Quality, Measurement, Analysis and Planning at the Bahrain Polytechnic Dr. Reem Albuainain said that academic accreditation is one of the key tools to upgrade high education institutions, which is why the Polytechnic is keen on getting accredited, adding that ranking among the first HEI to be accredited, is an achievement for the university and the higher education sector in Bahrain. Bahrain Polytechnic Acting CEO Dr. Mohamed Al Aseeri affirmed the keen interest of the Polytechnic Board of Trustees, chaired by Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, on getting the academic accreditation, given its positive impact on the Polytechnic and its graduates’ reputation. He commended the HEC Secretariat-General’s cooperation by conducting workshops, expressing thanks to HEC’s experts for their professionalism. Academic accreditation is among the Polytechnic Strategic Plan 2015-2019 goals, one of the requirements of the Government Action Plan (GAP) 2015-2018 and a key means to achieve the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
