Bahrain presents 1st Voluntary National Review

New York, July 16 (BNA): Bahrain has today officially presented its first Voluntary National Review (VNR) on the Implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This came during its participation at the High-level Political Forum (HLPF), of the UN Economic and Social Council, which opened today and will run until Wednesday (July18), in New York. The report compiles Bahrain’s sustainable development achievements and efforts to integrate the SDGs in the Government’s Action Plan (GAP). Led by Cabinet Affairs Minister Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Mutawa, Bahrain’s delegation will hold three key workshops highlighting the Kingdom’s success stories and viable practices. The workshops will focus on Bahrain’s strides to provide decent housing to citizens, in addition to the achievements of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and the Labour Fund (Tamkeen). The Four Seasons’ Hotel lit up in a dazzling show which epitomizes the harmonization between the Government Action Plan (GAP) and the 20130 Sustainable Development Goals. National Communication Centre (NCC) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mohammed Behzad expressed pride at strenuous national efforts to showcase the Government’s landmark achievements at all international arenas. He paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, hailing his royal directives in this regard. He commended the efforts of the Government, chaired by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa. He also hailed the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.
