Bahrain, US hold environmental meeting

Manama, Apr 27 (BNA): The Supreme Council for the Environment CEO Dr. Mohammed Mubarak bin Dinah, today in Washington, met with the US Environmental Protection Agency Chief Gina McCarthy. Bilateral relations were discussed, chiefly in the environmental sphere, as well as the implementation of the work plan for the environmental cooperation agreed upon within the framework of the Free Trade Agreement between Bahrain and the US which includes the implementation of joint projects in areas of air quality, environmental economics and environmental legislation and consultations. The two sides also reviewed the progress in negotiation between the GCC countries and the US on the Montreal Protocol which was discussed during the GCC-US Summit held last week in Riyadh. McCarthy welcomed Bahrain's role in pushing forward with the negotiation to reach final agreement by the end of current year.
