Bahrain women’s empowerment in focus

Manama, Apr.29 (BNA): Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Assistant-Secretary-General Dhawiya Sayyed Sharaf Al-Alawi met Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland - Bahrain (RCSI-Bahrain) President Professor Sameer Otoom and discussed cooperation. Al-Alawi hailed Bahraini women’s medical strides and active participation in all health sectors in the Kingdom. She stressed the council’s resolve to improve the social and psychological women which will a have a positive impact on families’ stability and well-being. She outlined the SCW-led programmes and projects under the national strategy which aims at empowering women, consolidating their gains. The two sides discussed joint cooperation to exchange expertise and integrate women’s needs into national development programmes. They also explored the establishment of a joint committee to put in place programmes and plans that support the empowerment of Bahraini women, promote research and studies. Five Bahraini women doctors spoke about their success stories in conducting studies and researches to serve Bahraini women and society.
