Bahraini artificial intelligence expert wins 2020 ‘Transformation Leader’ award

Manama, Aug. 23 (BNA): Bahrain’s Dr Jassim Haji, the regional Artificial Intelligence researcher and expert, has been honoured for his major contributions to artificial intelligence. Dr. Haji was honoured during the virtual annual award ceremony held by the leading and oldest technology media and research group in the Middle East, Tahawultech and Computer News Middle-East (CNME)- Dubai, United Arab Emirate, for Celebrating Technology Leaders that have shown the way during the COVID-19 crisis. Dr. Haji was declared the winner of Transformation Leader for 2020 for his contributions towards artificial intelligence including research and publications during the past six months. In a statement to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), Dr. Jassim Haji said that the award is the first of its kind in the Middle East region to be granted since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, noting that it aims to honour technological transformation leaders for their efforts and ideas in the field of artificial intelligence whose importance has increased during COVID-19 spread, not only in Bahrain, but all over the world. Dr. Haji praised the official support for artificial intelligence in Bahrain, citing His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s stress of its importance while opening the new session of the Fifth Legislative Term of the National Assembly. He affirmed that Bahrain has made major strides in using artificial intelligence at the public and private levels, citing its use in tracking COVID-19 patients, discovering medicines, teleworking, education, industry, electricity, workers, robots, among others. Dr Haji was the only winner from the kingdom of Bahrain, and he has won more than 20 international and regional individual awards for his innovations and contributions to technologies and artificial intelligence.
