Bahraini-Chinese relations discussed

Manama, July 18 (BNA): Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa received at Gudaibiya Palace today Chinese Ambassador to Bahrain Mr. Anwaer. He stressed Bahrain’s keenness to boost bilateral relations and avail of the Chinese experience mainly in the economic, infrastructure and technological fields. He pointed out the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa concerning the importance of bolstering cooperation with the Asian countries. He also pointed out the interest of Chinese President Xi Jinping in cementing strategic ties with Bahrain and the countries in the region. The Deputy Premier welcomed the Chinese ambassador wishing him a good stay in Bahrain and pledging to provide him with every support to perform his diplomatic duties for the best interest of both countries. He recalled his visit to Shanghai in 2014 to participate on behalf of HM the King in the 4th summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) during which Bahrain’s support to “the economic belt and silk road” initiative was stressed. The kingdom’s call on relevant countries to take part in the initiative with a contemporary vision to promote historic values, fast-track economic development and promote dialogue between civilisations was also highlighted. The Deputy Prime Minister also hailed the positive outcome of Bahrain’s participation in the 8th ministerial meeting of the Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum which was held recently in Beijing. He pointed out joint agreements and memoranda of understanding concluded to further enhance economic cooperation. The Chinese ambassador thanked the Deputy Premier for the meeting, affirming his keen interest to build on previous achievements in promoting bilateral relations for the common interest of both countries and peoples.
