Bahraini parliamentary delegation meets Japanese Parliamentary official

Tokyo, Apr. 27. (BNA) Bahrain-East Asian Parliamentary Friendship Committee at the Shura Council delegation, headed by Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, met here today the Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Takao Makino, in the presence of Deputy Head of Delegation Jameela Ali Salman, Shura Council Human Rights Committee chairperson Dr. Aisha Salem Mubarak and Bahrain's Ambassador to Japan Dr. Khalil Hassan and. The Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs welcomed the delegation, praising the bilateral relations and the coordination in international forums, affirming his country's interest in boosting its relations on parliamentary level as well as other levels. He Expressed his country's thanks to Bahrain's remarkable cooperation in defence field through joint cooperation and support to face piracy in the Arab Sea. Makino highlighted Japan's support to the hard work and outstanding attention given by Bahrain to democracy and the promotion of human rights through its great strides in this area, with the support of its political leadership, noting that Japan has taken similar steps earlier with the support of the Emperor. Shaikh Khalid pointed out the bilateral deep-rooted relations dating back to the thirties of the last century, expressing his and the delegation thanks for the Japanese stances towards Bahrain. He gave a brief about the democratic process in the Kingdom, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa through his reform project which has achieved a lot of quantum leaps in the kingdom.
