Bahraini PM invited to visit Thailand

BANGKOK, April 26 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has invited his Bahraini counterpart Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to pay a visit to Thailand to deepen bilateral cooperation between Bahrain and Thailand. The Thai prime minister, who has led his entourage to pay an official visit to Bahrain during April 24-26, extended the invitation during a plenary meeting between Bahraini and Thai government officials in Manama, Bahrain's capital, on April 25, saying that he hoped his Bahraini counterpart would visit Thailand soon. The Thai prime minister also congratuated his Bahraini counterpart on being awarded the Development Work Shield prize for sustainable development from the League of Arab States. The Thai leader pledged that his government would do the best to forge ahead bilateral ties and cooperation between Bahrain and Thailand for the sake of mutual benefits and prosperity. On the occasion, the Thai prime minister also thanked Bahrain for supporting Thailand under the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and under other international frameworks, including the United Nations, the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Accompanied by his entourage, including Foreign minister Don Pramudwinai, Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn, Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister General Chatchai Sarikulya, Public Health Minister Dr. Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn and Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) Secretary-General Hirunya Suchinai, the Thai prime minister returned home on Wednesday morning. During his three-day trip to Bahrain, the Thai prime minister and his Bahraini counterpart also witnessed the signing of three bilateral cooperation agreements, including the Memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Agriculture Cooperation, the Protocol on the Amendment of the Convention for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income and Capital and the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Cooperation between University of Bahrain and Prince of Songkla University in the Thai South.
