Bahraini-Swiss economic relations discussed

Manama, May 23 (BNA): Economic relations between the business sectors in Bahrain and Switzerland have been discussed. During a meeting held at Beit Al-Tijjar between the Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Khalid Abdulrahman Al-Moayyad and the Swiss Honorary Consul-General to the UAE Raymund Furrer and his accompanying delegation, ways to enhance bilateral relations and joint investments were also reviewed. BCCI Chairman called for intensifying the presence of Swiss companies and investments in Bahrain, especially in the financial fields, and added value projects. He also informed the Swiss delegation about the economic events to be hosted by the kingdom in the coming period and the Swiss companies' participation in them. He said the Bahraini business community was looking forward for developing economic and trade relations with its Swiss counterpart, in light of the good relations bonding the two friendly countries and avail of the diverse opportunities offered by them. He expressed BCCI's readiness to remove all obstacles that may face investors, in cooperation with the relevant sides, in order to increase the volume of bilateral trade, which reached about 28.5 million US dollars during the first quarter of 2015, according to CIO statistics. The Swiss Honorary Consul-General to the UAE lauded the key roles played by BCCI in enhancing Bahrain's economic relations between the two friendly countries. He highlighted the Swiss sides' keenness on building trade and investment partnerships between businessmen in the two countries in order to take advantage of the huge potentials offered by the Bahraini economy. He called on Bahraini businessmen to invest in many thriving economic fields in his country such as medical equipment, watches, eco-friendly car spare parts and banking in order to open up new promising horizons of bilateral cooperation.
