Bahrain's relief consignment reaches Nepal

Manama, May.5(BNA):A thirty-ton relief-aid consignment has today arrived in Kathmandu following royal directives to establish the Bahrain-Nepal Support Committee. HM the King's Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) Board of Trustees' Chairman His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa is leading the humanitarian panel. RCO Secretary-General, head of Bahrain-Nepal Support Committee Dr. Mustapha Al-Sayyed was at Kathmandu airport as Bahrain cargo plane landed, with a thirty-ton consignment on board. Dr. Al-Sayyed paid tribute to HM King Hamad, extending thanks to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier and HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa for their support. He commended the role of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Health, Bahrain people and all those who donated in support of the Nepalese people, in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake which struck their country, leaving thousands dead and injured and wreaking havoc in the mountain Kingdom. He hailed the role of the BDF delegation in assisting the Nepalese people, lauding the efforts of the relief team led by Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa to set up tents and comfort traumatized survivors. "The 30-ton consignment contains medication, tents, blankets and water purifiers in addition to 7000 kilos of food supplies donated by Bahrain people through Lulu Hypermarket", said Dr. Al-Sayyed, who met Nepalese Government officials and MPs to coordinate the distribution of the consignment to quake-stricken people.
