Bahrain's support to ESCWA stressed

Manama, May 6 (BNA): The Minister of the Shura and Representatives Councils Affairs Ghanim bin Fadhel Al Buainin received today Under-Secretary General and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Dr. Rima Khalaf. He congratulated her on the UN Chief's confidence by re-appointing her to her post, stressing that this trust testifies to her success since taking up the post. He thanked her for her participation in the second edition of the high-profile Arab forum on sustainable development currently held in Bahrain. He also said that Bahrain has the honour to preside the 28th session of ESCWA, voicing resolve to ensure its success in achieving forecast goals. He also underlined the importance of peace and security as a pre-requisite for sustainable development amid regional and international changes. A O Q
