Baku to host "Future Shorts" film festival

Baku, July 30 (AzerTAc). The YARAT! Nonprofit organization will realize the FUTURE SHORTS FESTIVAL - SUMMER SEASON 2012. The Future Shorts Festival is the biggest pop up film festival of its kind, showcasing the most exciting short films from around the world. Anyone anywhere can set up a screening and be part of a massive screening network and a powerful global community. Since November 2011, festival screenings have taken place in over 144 cities and 55 countries with an audience of more than 25,000 people experiencing a showcase of the best short films, often alongside live music, DJs and art. From London to Tokyo, Cairo to Kabul, screenings have taken place across a massive network of music halls, cinemas, theatres, galleries, clubs, bars and warehouses. The summer season of the festival has already ended and the organizers announced the summer program. The summer program will last till the August 31. This year’s favorites are the Academy Awards and BAFTA winners “City Tour” (Great Britain, 2012) and “The Guest” the Grand Prix laureate of the Clermont-Ferrand festival. The Baku part of the festival will be held on August 24 at 22:00 local time in Green Theatre. The tickets have already put on the sale in the central cash desks of the capital. Future Shorts celebrates the best and most innovative short films, connecting global stories with global audiences. Every three months, Future Shorts HQ in London puts together a feature-length programme of some of the best classic, cult and award-winning short films from around the world. The festival programme is then made available to a global network of film enthusiasts, promoters, entrepreneurs and adventurers who book, organize and host local screening events. Screening partners pay a fixed fee for the festival programme, which varies according to the intended size of their audience, and then promote the screening, charge for tickets and keep any profits. Future Shorts Festival is powered by this global community of screening partners. The current Future Shorts Winter programme includes Oscar-winner God of Love, the 2011 Sundance winner Deeper than Yesterday, BAFTA-winner The Eagleman Stag, David O’Reilly’s multi-award winning The External World and the Berlin Golden Bear winning one-take wonder Incident By a Bank. The Future Shorts Spring programme is available for booking now for screenings from March 1st to May 31st. Highlights include Nash Edgerton’s Cannes and Sundance hit “Bear”, the follow-up to his sensational “Spider”; Sam Taylor-Wood’s BAFTA nominated “Love You More”, the latest short form work from Spike Jonze and Amy Grappell’s four-way affair documentary, Quadrangle.
