Bali To Contribute To World Peace: Governor

Denpasar, Bali, Oct 28 (Antara) - Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika has said the island paradise will contribute to world peace by hosting the 6th Bali Democracy Forum on Nov. 7-8, 2013. "The Indonesian island resort of Bali serves not only as a world tourism destination but also contributes to world peace through the Bali Democracy Forum," the governor stated here on Monday. Pastika noted that through this year`s international event, Bali will share its perspective on democracy and peace with other democratic countries. He said Bali had established the Institute for Peace and Democracy at Udayana University, and it was inaugurated by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in 2008. The governor added that the institute will give the younger generation in Indonesia and elsewhere more opportunities to study issues related to democracy and peace. Pastika explained that Bali is ready to host the Bali Democracy Forum, which will be opened by President Yudhoyono and attended by Timor-Leste`s president, the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam, foreign ministers and ambassadors from 53 Asia-Pacific countries, and numerous observers.
