Bali Police Chief Opens World Congress On Medical Law

Jakarta, Aug 22 (Antara) - Bali Police chief Inspector General Albertus Julius Benny Mokalu opened the 20th World Congress on Medical Law (WCML), attended by hundreds of delegates from 61 countries in Nusa Dua, Badung regency. "We expect this congress produces a suitable instrument to protect patients` rights, labor rights and public health in each country to improve human welfare," Albertus Julius Benny Mokalu said in his opening speech at The 20th World Congress on Medical Law on Friday. He explained that police played a role on medical law, one of them proving criminal cases handled by the Forensic Division. He remarked that the forensic has very large role in the disclosure of a criminal case to give evidence. "Experts in forensic will make sure the judge about the forensic evidence from the testimony of the experts," he noted. Meanwhile, President of 20th World Congress on Medical Law (WCML) M. Nasser pointed out that the congress displayed 268 of 620 manuscripts on medical law from 620 delegates of 61 countries to be discussed in the forum. He stated that human rights became the emphasis of discussion as part of an approach to health, legal and ethical codes for medical law and human rights together. "This is an excellent opportunity for experts to share experiences related to particular areas of medical law," Nasser affirmed. Meanwhile, President of World Association for Medical Law (WAML) Thomas T. Noguchi revealed that the experts have a thought related to creating social harmonization although the norms and ethics of medical law in each country was different. "We believe that both law which is common or not common is an essential component for social harmonization to anyone," he emphasized. The 20th World Congress on Medical Law (WCML) 2014 focuses on the developments in medical law and will provide a forum to facilitate collaboration, generating the next major breakthrough in the field, a rich and diverse scientific program, an important platform for cutting discuss different solutions of health protection and the ultimate aim of 20th World Congress on Medical Law is to facilitate fruitful collaborations that will then generate the next major breakthrough in the field.
