Bangkok Governor To Follow Thai King's Advice On Water Management

BANGKOK, December 6 (TNA) - Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra said today that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will follow His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's advice on long term water management and has already set up a flood prevention committee to prepare for possible inundations next year. M.R. Sukhumbhand told a press conference that he will be the chair of the committee himself, noting that the BMA will continue to work hard with the government and other agencies concerned in resolving flood-related problems. Regarding concerns over possible outbreaks of diseases in the wake of floods, the Bangkok governor insisted that there have been no signs of any outbreak in capital so far and the number of flood-borne disease cases, including dengue fever, influenza, and diarrhea, in the city has been lower than last year.
